It was my choice. Anywhere I wanted to go for my birthday dinner was the plan. It had been over 10 years since I last ate at the Charcoal Steak House, so that was it. We made reservations early and were seated at a booth. The restaurant was very dark, which bothered one of my guests, but I loved it. A very warm atmosphere. Private while sitting in a room full of other diners. We chose the Crab Cakes for our appetizer. They were delicious. Perfectly crusted with panko, soft and tender on the inside. A nice tartar sauce served on the side. The dish also came with a side of pickled cucumber, which I was not a fan of, but my guests loved. Looking over the menu, we made the obvious choices being in a steak house. The prime rib special, the Nebraska Rib-Eye and the King City Rib-Eye. The Prime Rib was great. Soft and juicy, but my guest had an issue. She ordered well done, but it was served medium. She still ate it, and loved it, but was not given what she ordered. My other guest loved the King-City Steak. Served with Sweet Potato Fries. I sampled a bite or two of her steak, and it tasted better than my Nebraska cut. The steak I chose, the Nebraska Rib, was wonderful. But again, the kitchen was a little off with the cooking. I ordered medium, and was served well done. Regardless, it still was one of the best steaks I've ever had. The ends of the steak had that perfect crunchy crust that everyone loves on a Rib Steak. We passed on dessert, seeing I had a cake at home waiting. After chatting to our waitress, my guest let it slip that it was my birthday, before the bill came she brought out a peice of Mint Ice Cream Cake free of charge. I appreciated that. Read more

Food came fast, hot and exactly how I like my wings and I'm fussy! Spoke with Tuna (Charlie maybe?) behind the bar and told him that if I lived here, this is where I would hang out...he bought my wife and I a drink, which we thought was excellent. Went back the next night and ate something completely different and it to was excellent. Visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday afternoon after driving by several times and not even realizing that it was really there (found it on restaurantica). We all shared a bunch of appetizers which were all great (huge portions so we took a lot of food home) and then my husband and I split the clubhouse and a burger. The burger was the best that I had ever had, and the clubhouse was great. I was with a party of 5 and we were all totally shocked by the huge portions that we received. The service was extremely friendly and speedy and we were made to feel like we were right at home. The server even wrote out a list of their daily specials for us so that we would know for the next time we came back. The place was super busy and I can see why. I have a feeling that this will turn into our new local spot for dinner and drinks. Great atmosphere with cliental that seemed to be from toddler right through to the elderly and prices are extremely reasonable.. for all of the food we ordered it probably would have cost double anywhere else! Although they're famous for their chicken, we'll be going back for their fish (and maybe try the chicken for my 'no way I'm eating fish' husband). My son and I were looking for a quick bite for lunch after doing some shopping at the nearby Scholars Choice and found this place. Smelled soo good. As we didn't see a lot of prices or labels, my son ordered the Portuguese sausage sandwich and I lingered over the windows filled with mountains of fish, rice, potatoes and was served by a very pleasant and helpful young man. I asked about a particular dish and ended up ordering the amazing looking and super delicious cod with a side of potatoes, The server put two layers of potatoes in a good sized container, covered it with the huge portion of cod and then he began spooning a loving amount of the yummy sauce over the dish. As it really isn't a sit down place, we were hungry and ate there. I paid less than $20 and was in heaven. My son enjoyed his sausage but will definitely order the cod next time. Was surprised to read about 'grumpy' servers. Ours even thanked us for coming on our way out. Maybe because it was in the early Friday afternoon, we saw that customers were served quickly (looked like they ordered huge quantities ahead) and courteously. Definitely going back for that cod. We started our visit via the internet to get a feel for the restaurant. We were curious to see the prices and any other information we could gather. We found the website to be user friendly and included day and evening menus with prices. We called to inquire about reservations and the hostess that answered was friendly and well informed. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the same hostess that answered the phone and accommodated us with the window seat that we had asked for. Walking in the atmosphere was warm and inviting with an amazing view of the Niagara Falls. Our waitress was pleasant and professional in all aspects of her job. She frequently stopped by to talk with us and ensure that our visit was a pleasant one. Her attention to us did not waiver even as the restaurant got busier. The food was fresh and exceeded all our expectations, right down to the butter. The steaks were prepared exactly the way we ordered them and the baked potato was superb. Overall this restaurant was outstanding, dinner was delicious, view was exquisite, service was amazing and we had a wonderful time. He said after we get our sandwiches, to sit down and he would bring our french fries to us. We received our sandwiches, which were delicious, and we sat down. After a few minutes, the man gave us our french fries, and a free glass of lemonade. He said the lemonade was for forgetting the french fries. Such a nice guy! One of my favourite things is to go down to St Lawrence on a Saturday with a friend who is peameal or eggplant obsessed (you know who you are!) and convince them that "this week, we go to Churrasco St Lawrence, and next week we'll get yours". We never go for their sandwich, because they are always instant converts. All take-away, you can't miss with their huge Chicken Sandwich, what appears to be most of a chicken completely infused with the fantastic sauce with lettuce and tomato. With or without mayo. The sandwich is enough to give you a big grin and a full belly, but I usually find room for a custard tart, something akin to a creme brulee taste in a buttery yet flaky, almost phyllo-style shell. Yeah. They do full rotisserie chickens and a range of other foods too, but to be honest in 4 years I've never gotten past the sandwich. I'm hooked. Wine was great, ambiance even better. I ordered the fettutini contessa, and hubby ordered chicken parmesan. we had the rice ball for appetizer, and was really good. The creme brule was a little small, but hit the spot!! Everything is homemade!! Read more
